Professor Zhang came to the Medical College of Wisconsin to serve as biostatistician for the International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (IBMTR) and the Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (ABMTR) in 1992. He holds a primary appointment in the Division of Biostatistics. Prior to joining the Medical College of Wisconsin, he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at New Mexico Tech.

Professor Zhang's major research areas are survival analysis, inference from stochastic processes and non-linear models. As a biostatistician for the IBMTR and ABMTR he is interested in developing statistical model and methodology for analyzing complex transplant data. His research is funded by the National Institute of Health and the National Cancer Institute.
